Relationships: Why Do Some Breakups Hurt Men More Than Women?

In recent studies, men have been shown to suffer more than women when a relationship comes to an end. And while some people would not have been surprised to hear this, for others, it was unexpected and even dismissed.

Even though men have emotions just like women, this doesn’t always appear to be the case and they are often portrayed as having an inability to show emotions by women and the media. Men are often stoic and the emotions that they do express are often limited to a few emotions, such as: anger and frustration.

So what these studies have done is created awareness around the fact that although men don’t always show their emotions, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have them. And the reasons they don’t show them is partly due to the pressures that men face and what it generally means to be a man.

Roles

Times are changing and while a man has been seen as the provider for so long, this is a role that they are not always expected to play in today’s world. For when they played this role, they had to be seen as strong and unbreakable; as being immune to pain and to give of the impression that nothing ever affected them.

And as a man was expected to be this way, a woman had to play the role of being passive and weak. But, women have gradually been realising their power and the need for a provider is no longer as important as it used to be; simply because the chances are often there for women to provide for themselves.

Change

But while changes have been taking place, in regards to what it means to be a man and what it means to be a woman, the pressure to conform to the old roles is still there for people. For if ones identity is based on playing a certain role and this causes them to feel empowered for instance, there is naturally going to be resistance when it comes to change.

Even if these roles are dysfunctional and unhealthy, it doesn’t mean that one is simply going to let them go; especially if what they will have to let go of is seen being less than what they will end up with.

Labelled

And if a man was to show his emotions and not just the ones that are seen as acceptable, but their full range of emotions, there is going to be the chance that he will be labelled. This label is unlikely to be one that causes him to feel empowered.

What it could do is cause him to feel emasculated and that he will no longer be accepted or respected by others. And this will be seen as something that that could isolate him from other men and women.

Socially Acceptable

So it could be said that until men are seen as having emotions and that it’s acceptable for them to have them, there are going to be a lot of men who will continue suffer in silence. Just as there are women who feel the pressure to be passive and that they have to deny their personal power.

Acceptable

What is acceptable is for women to show their emotions and for men to repress them. This is generally what is classed as normal and yet just because something is normal, it doesn’t mean it is healthy.

And as a result of this, it is only natural that some women will handle breaks up differently to how some men do. Women can feel as though it’s okay for them to embrace their emotions, whereas men can come to the conclusion that they have to deny them and to pretend they don’t exist.

Consequences

So when one person feels comfortable with something, they are going to behave differently to someone who doesn’t feel the same. Women, through feeling comfortable with their emotions, usually have friends and family who they can open up to. Through them embracing their emotions, it can lead to their feelings being released instead of trapped in their body.

And as they can do this, they don’t have the same need to deny how they feel and to channel their feelings into something destructive. To see a woman upset is generally not going to have the same affect on people as it would if a man was upset.

Alternatively

As men don’t always feel comfortable with having emotions, there is less chance that they will have friends who they can open up to and they might not even reveal how they feel to their family. And as a man doesn’t embrace them, they can end up being trapped in their body.

So when they are not faced and the support is not there, their emotions can end up being repressed and channelled into things that are destructive. These could lead them to taking drugs, drinking alcohol or fighting, as a way to numb their pain.

Emotional Build Up

And if a woman has always felt comfortable with expressing her emotions, then she is unlikely to have an emotional build up. So when a relationships ends, there won’t be any emotional pain from the past to increase her present pain.

However, when it comes to a man who has repressed his emotions for most of his life; their present pain could end up being intensified through having repressed emotions triggered. Emotional pain from the break up and from many years of repression, could end up being overwhelming.

Generalisations

To say that all women are comfortable with their emotions and all men are not would be inaccurate. And yet women are expected to be in touch with how they feel and men are not.

Men not only have the right to express how they feel, they also need to. If a man wants to be emotionally healthy, then it is imperative that they change how they view their emotions and how they deal with them.

Awareness

This is why the assistance of a therapist, healer a coach can be so important. Through another’s assistance, one can gradually form a different relationship with their emotions. If a man is suffering emotionally, reaching out for support is the healthiest thing to do.

What Happens When You Lose a Filling?

Having a cavity filled is a necessary procedure that is unfortunately very expensive and sometimes a little painful. However, fillings are not full-proof and can often fall out from eating certain foods that jostle it out of your tooth. In some instances, you may not even realize that you have lost a filling and may have even swallowed it. In the end, losing a filling isn’t a major immediate emergency, but it should not be ignored.

When It Comes Out

If you realize your filling has come out when it has happened and you haven’t already swallowed it, you should remove it from your mouth to prevent yourself from swallowing it. If you have swallowed it, it usually passes through your system without a problem. However, if you swallow it and you breathe it into your lungs, it could cause an infection.

Call Your Dentist

You should call your dentist as soon as you lose your filling if it’s within business hours to make a new appointment as soon as possible to replace the filling. If you recently got the filling or it was recently replaced, your dentist should replace it for free especially if it was an issue with the bonding of the filling when it was being put in.

Keeping it Clean

If you are not able to get to your dentist that day to have it refilled, you will need to keep that area of your tooth really clean. The cavity that was filled is now exposed again and could worsen or feel really sensitive. Brush your teeth carefully making sure to remove any food debris from the cavity so that harmful bacteria does not accumulate.

Pain

Your tooth may be sensitive after you lose your filing. This may be caused by exposed dentin tubules, which are tiny pathways of communication between the dentin and the pulp of your tooth. The dentin tubules provide a direct pathway from the inside of your mouth to your tooth. If you do feel pain, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as ibuprofen, Advil or Tylenol.

‘Bachelor’ spoilers: Who is the next ‘Bachelorette’ 2014?

“Bachelor” spoilers have been all over the internet greatly in part to Reality Steve who loves to give fans the 411 long before the season ends. One of the spoilers involves the next “Bachelorette” and on Feb. 24, Hollywood Life reported who that is rumored to be. Apparently Andi Dorfman will take the helm — she and Juan Pablo will not end up together (in case you didn’t read the finale spoilers).

The selection of Andi has a lot of fans in an uproar — while a lot of people liked her on “The Bachelor,” most don’t see her as “The Bachelorette” and were really hoping for some “fresh meat” so to speak.

“Bachelor” spoilers revealed who Juan Pablo chooses at the end of this season but also what will happen moving forward with the popular ABC franchise. Andi Dorfman will begin filming her season on March 11 or 12. According to the report, the “official” announcement will air on “After the Final Rose,” which isn’t anything new. And the fact that the news was spoiled? Also nothing new.

Three Easy Ways to Fend Off a Cold and Flu

1.   Focus on healthy lifestyle habits.

  • Get plenty of sleep. This is one of the most important habits to heed since sleep is the time when our bodies heal and recharge. You can’t expect your body to fight off cold and flu viruses with an empty gas tank. It’s crucial for adults to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and for kids to get 10-12 hours.
  • Wash your hands. Although we are surrounded by bacteria and viruses year round, we tend to be more susceptible during cold and flu season due to being indoors more, poor ventilation and being in close quarters with more people. Make sure you wash your hands regularly with a gentle germ-killing soap such as Dial® (it’s an antibacterial powerhouse). This is especially important after shaking hands or touching objects like phones and keyboards. And here’s an easy trick for making sure your kids spend enough time at the sink: Teach them to wash their hands for as long as it takes them to sing “Happy Birthday” or “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” Bye-bye, germs!
  • Drink plenty of fluids and remain hydrated. Stick to beverages like filtered water and herbal teas to keep the immune system running smoothly.

2.   Keep your immune system robust through healthy nutrition.

Focus on foods like leafy green vegetables and low sugar fruits like dark berries. Avoid processed foods or any foods that come out of a box as well as high sugar foods like pastries, cookies and candy. If you need to satisfy that sweet tooth, opt for raw organic honey or 70 percent (or greater) organic dark chocolate.

3.   Stock your medicine cabinet.

As the old saying goes, “an ounce of preparation is worth a pound of cure.” Keep some vitamin C around so that if you do get sick, you can take 1 gram per day in order to boost your immunity. Stock your house, office and purse with Scotties® tissues to help aid sniffles, sore noses and those sneezes that sneak up on you! The last thing you want is to find yourself or your child with a runny nose and nothing but an old crumpled tissue at the bottom of your purse. And since one of the top reasons for missing work is due to parents taking care of sick kids, make sure you pick up some Triaminic® products at your local drugstore. If symptoms do arise in your little ones, it can help alleviate symptoms and make them feel better while they heal so you don’t have to miss too many days of work.

With these few easy steps, you’ll be sure to breeze through this cold and flu season.

Travel Insurance Canada: Canadians Traveling within their own Country

With the economy in the rough shape it is in nowadays, it can be relatively expensive for Canadians to take a trip to their favorite state in the U.S and even more costly to fly oversees for a getaway in Europe, Asia or to other overseas destinations. Canadian citizens should think about planning a trip to another province or territory because Canada has so much to offer in terms of great vacation areas.

Why Travel Within Canada?

The Canadian government encourages tourism, whether it be for fellow Canadians, Americans, Europeans, etc. There are many appealing areas to visit in Canada that can realize your needs for an exciting relaxing or culturally interesting vacation. Every province in Canada has something to offer and it is recommended that every Canadian try and visit as many as possible, even if it takes multiple trips! Whether you want to go whale watching in British Columbia, see the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountains in Alberta, lie on the beautiful sandy beaches in New Brunswick, take in the stunning shoreline scenery of Nova Scotia, hike on many of the fantastic trails in Ontario, or see the gorgeous icebergs in Newfoundland, there is always something enjoyable to do in every province and territory.

When is the Best Time to Travel?

Obviously, anyone can travel to other areas in Canada at any time of the year. However, the weather will determine whether or not you will be able to partake in certain activities. Traveling in the summer is usually the more common time to travel if you are looking to hike, see sight, and do many other outdoor activities. Canadian winters in most places are usually cold and come with plenty of snow. When winter arrives, cities such as Toronto, Quebec City, Montreal and Winnipeg host big winter carnivals and are the popular areas to go if you are planning on skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing or doing other winter activities. In the end, the best time to travel depends on what activities you enjoy the most.

How Should I Travel?

If traveling by air, many airlines such as Air Canada, Quantas, and Northwest offer significant discounts and deals if you book your flight well in advance. Talking to a travel agent is recommended, as he or she should be able to give you advice and answer all the questions you may have regarding your trip. You can also talk to friends and family who have traveled throughout Canada to see how they traveled, what they enjoyed the most and how much it cost them. If you are not traveling by air, you have many other options. Traveling by train, bus, or car are the other most common ways to travel. Via Rail and Greyhound are the most popular ways to travel by train and bus as they may offer various package deals and discounts. For more information, you can check the website of the company or talk to a travel agent. Keep in mind that traveling by bus or car is a good way to see all of the many sights that Canada has to offer. Other popular trips include traveling by bike, motorbike or motor home, which allow even more time to visit the small towns and campgrounds along the way.

Canadian Travel Insurance and Other Necessities

Before taking a trip to another province or territory, you should take care of a few things. Canadian travel insurance is important to have if you are leaving your home province. Travel insurance in Canada is crucial because if you become ill or have an accident outside of your home province, your provincial health plan may not cover all of the medical bills. Additional travel insurance can cover unexpected expenses such as if you require immediate medical attention, if your possessions get stolen or damaged, if you experience a flight or travel accident, etc. Without Canadian travel insurance, you may be required to pay unforeseen medical expenses and you would not have coverage for lost, stolen or damaged luggage, flight delays or cancellations. Anyone planning a trip outside of his or her home province or territory should obtain travel insurance so that they are covered anywhere and everywhere they travel.

You are also advised to have your passport and birth certificate with you in your travels. If you have a family, make sure they have all of the proper identification and information as well. Other than that, doing the proper research and properly planning out your trip well in advance will go a long way to ensuring a successful journey.
Canadians should visit as much of Canada as possible in their lifetime. There are so many incredible things to do and unbelievable sights to see that it is almost impossible to see them all! After traveling all or most of Canada, not only will you learn a lot about your home country, you will also be able to tell people how great it is and recommend the best places for them to visit.

You Are Able To Tap Into Enormous Traffic With International Language Promotion

There are a lot of internet marketers who understand the value, and profit potential, of marketing in international languages. Even so, we feel the main reason so few do it is due to the fact of the perceived complications involved. There are many online businesses who do seem to be still striving to become prosperous right here at home. But consider that if you are only marketing to English speaking people, then you are ignoring close to 80% of internet users around the world. That is a huge number of people and can mean a tremendous increase in business. Coming from a business viewpoint, nearly all of us are just letting it get away by not capitalizing on it.

Yes, certainly it will require effort to make essential changes at your site for a readership that is multilingual. But if you get it done the right way you can open many new marketing and profit avenues. Possibly the biggest obstacle for many small businesses pertains to content interpretation. At all times avoid using software to do this type of essential translation. So next simply locate freelance translators, and that’s not hard to do, and try to find the best price. At first, you can have a portion of your site content and marketing converted. Simply have a look at your marketing and advertising content, and then start out with the most critical parts, first.

It will be great to know about a few likely pitfalls you need to avoid. You do have to be knowledgeable of the language implemented on your site and in your marketing. For instance, many times you can effortlessly get by with a fairly informal style of writing and expression in the US or even in other English speaking nations. However, there are countries where informal expression in business is tremendously frowned upon. The easy solution is to be more conventional, and you can also check with your translator about what would work best.

Another important area of concern has to do with working with search terms in foreign languages. People using search engines in other countries and cultures will use words they normally use in daily life. We are speaking about literal translations, and the person will often not use a literal translation. What we are really speaking about is using the right keyword expression translations in your material. Which is why we stress the significance of using a freelance translator for all your requirements.

Advertising in foreign languages will force you to make a decision on using your normal domain or buying all new domains for foreign language marketing. The normal argument for making use of a top level domain that is specific to a country has to do with local search factors. But you do need to realize there can be a range of problems when you start doing that. There are further costs for website names in addition to chances you can have your site served to the incorrect areas. So a very frequent suggestion is to utilize your English top level url and possibly a subdomain or a directory style suffix at the end.

Low carb Paleo diet burns fat fast for weight loss, says ‘Eat the Yolks’ author

If you’ve banned high fat foods such as egg yolks, butter and beef from your diet and can’t lose weight, a nutritional therapy practitioner (NTP) says she knows the reason: You’re missing out on the fat-burning benefits of healthy fats. In an exclusive interview on Feb. 25, we talked with Liz Wolfe, NTP, about what she’s discovered when it comes to permanent weight loss and health.

Why the epidemic of obesity in our nation? Liz links it to “decades of the Standard American Diet, which leads to hormonal imbalance and out-of-control hunger.”

She’s convinced that our tendency to avoid fat is a large part of the problem. Our hormones need fats such as butter, beef and eggs, says Liz. And her new book’s title sums up her philosophy: “Eat the Yolks: Discover Paleo, fight food lies, and reclaim your health” (click for details).

Modern science proves that we need both fat and cholesterol, and “fat and cholesterol from ethically raised animal products, along with the fat-soluble vitamins that come with them, are vital to our health,” Liz told us.

And when it comes to the ideal diet for weight loss and health, Liz is a Paleo plan proponent. However, she does modify the traditional Paleo approach slightly by adding certain types of dairy.

“Paleo opens the door to a world of nourishing, delicious, appetite-regulating foods that many of us eliminated out of fear or simply forgot as a result of our standard diet rut,” she explains.

In contrast, “the standard American diet is based on restricting calories, restricting fat, eliminating fats and cholesterol from properly raised animals, and ignoring real food in favor of the profitable, nutrient-poor products we’re sold as if a so-called “whole grain” with a long ingredients label was somehow a true health food.”

Liz offers this insight on the benefits of whole grains: “That’s propaganda, pure and simple.”

So what really works for weight loss? To become what Liz calls an “efficient fat-burner,” dish up “healthy fats and cholesterol, properly-raised animals and the fat-soluble vitamins that come with them, and whole vegetables and fruits of all kinds. ”

A typical day in Liz’s own “Eat the Yolks” diet includes:

A ginger-lemon tea or glass of beet kvass.
Breakfast is eggs from our free-range flock, over sweet potato or taro root with a dollop of goat cheese or butter from grass-fed cows.
Lunch is quick: wild-caught sardines straight from the can – a fantastic, budget-conscious, low-food-chain source of Omega 3, calcium and protein – with leftover sautéed rainbow chard and other veggies, like roasted carrots or beets left over from dinner the night before.
Dinner might be soup or stew, made with homemade broth in the pressure cooker (another time-saver), or tomato sauce with ground beef over spaghetti squash, a favorite ten-minute meal.

For those who are vegetarians, Liz suggests modifying the traditional approach by incorporating “the right types of dairy products, eggs, and bivalve seafood like oysters.”

Liz feels that “eliminating processed grain products and packaged foods is 95% of the battle for most of us; from there, it’s simply tweaking to achieve our goals while paying close attention to how we feel.”
